Mailshake vs Woodpecker: Cold Email Platform Comparison
Compare Mailshake and Woodpecker side by side. See pricing, features, and integrations to choose the right cold email platform for your needs.

Mailshake bills per user and Woodpecker bills per contacted prospect, with unlimited team members included. Mailshake starts at $29 a month per seat; Woodpecker's calculator starts at $7.00 per 100 contacted prospects. Large team with a small list favours Woodpecker, and a small team with a large list favours Mailshake.
Key takeaways
- Woodpecker includes unlimited team members and unlimited connected email accounts, so seats never move the bill.
- Mailshake reaches unlimited sends at $49, so a wide single-touch campaign does not move its bill either.
- Woodpecker counts a prospect once per month however many times you email them, which makes long sequences cheap and single-touch campaigns relatively expensive.
- Woodpecker's pricing page no longer lists the named tiers or the $24 entry price that older comparisons quote.

Mailshake vs Woodpecker: Cold Email Platform Comparison
Mailshake bills for the people on your team. Woodpecker bills for the people on your list. Two teams with identical campaigns and different shapes will find one of these obviously cheaper than the other, and the feature comparison never explains why.
The Quick Answer
Mailshake is a per-user sales engagement platform: sequencing plus a VOIP dialer and LinkedIn tasks, with a mailbox allowance attached to each seat. Woodpecker prices a calculator on contacted prospects, from $7.00 per 100, and includes unlimited team members and unlimited connected email accounts.
Woodpecker's pricing page no longer publishes the named Starter, Growth, Scale and Max tiers that older comparisons quote, and the $24 entry price is not on it.
If your team is large and your list is small, Woodpecker is structurally cheaper. Reverse those and Mailshake is.
Understanding the Core Difference
Mailshake is a sales engagement platform that pairs email sequencing with a VOIP dialer and LinkedIn tasks, sold per user with a mailbox allowance attached to each seat.
Woodpecker is a cold email platform priced on the people you actually contact rather than on seats or mailboxes, with warmup built in and unlimited team members and connected email accounts included at no extra cost.
Mailshake attaches capacity to a seat. Starter at $29 gives one email address and 1,500 sends a month; Email Outreach at $49 gives two addresses and unlimited sends; Sales Engagement at $99 gives ten. Growing the sending footprint means growing the seat count.
Woodpecker removes seats from the equation entirely. Team members are unlimited, connected email accounts are unlimited, and the meter runs on contacted prospects, where a prospect emailed repeatedly in a month counts once.
The consequence is that these two tools reward opposite kinds of growth. Mailshake gets cheaper per person as each person sends more. Woodpecker gets cheaper per touch as each prospect receives more.
Pricing Comparison

Starter
Per 100 contacted prospects
Mailshake pricing
| Plan | Price | Mailboxes | Email sends |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $29/mo | 1 email address per account | 1,500 sends/month |
| Email Outreach | $49/mo | 2 email addresses per account | Unlimited |
| Sales Engagement | $99/mo | 10 email addresses per account | Unlimited |
| Agency | Talk to sales | Unlimited email addresses | Unlimited |
Uploaded contacts are unlimited on every tier. Billing is per user, and the page states that each user you pay for lets the team connect one more mail account.

Woodpecker pricing
Woodpecker does not publish named tiers on the page fetched for this comparison. That page is a calculator priced on contacted prospects, with add-ons switched on individually.
| Line item | Published price |
|---|---|
| Contacted prospects | $7.00 per 100, falling with volume (the page marks a Save 25% tier) |
| Extra mailboxes (Google or Microsoft) | $6 per month per address |
| Extra warm-ups | $5 per month per email account |
| LinkedIn connected accounts | $29 per month per account |
| Dedicated server (Infraforge) | $59 per month per server |
| Agency active clients | $27 per month per active client |
Unlimited team members and unlimited connected email accounts are included at no extra cost, which is the structural argument for the model: you are charged for people reached rather than for seats or mailboxes.

What the two cost at a realistic volume
Take an invented but ordinary case: a five-person SDR team contacting 1,500 new prospects a month between them, each running a three-touch sequence. The arithmetic is illustrative and uses list prices only.
On Mailshake that is five seats. At the Email Outreach rate of $49 per user it is $245 a month, and each seat brings two mailboxes, so the team has ten sending addresses. On Woodpecker the five people cost nothing, and 1,500 contacted prospects at $7.00 per 100 is $105 a month before the volume discount the page advertises, with the three-touch sequence costing nothing extra because repeat contact does not re-bill.
Now double the list to 3,000 prospects and hold the team at five. Mailshake stays at $245 because sends are unlimited from Email Outreach up. Woodpecker roughly doubles. The crossover is approximately where per-prospect cost overtakes per-seat cost, and for most teams it sits between two and four thousand prospects a month.
Reading the price ladders against each other
Neither entry price answers the question. Mailshake's $29 is one seat with one mailbox. Woodpecker's $7.00 is a rate, not a plan.
Two costs are easy to miss. On Mailshake, mailboxes come with seats, so a team that wants twenty sending addresses is buying twenty seats whether or not twenty people exist. On Woodpecker, managed mailboxes are $6 a month each and warm-ups beyond the included allowance are $5, so a twenty-address setup carries real add-on cost even though the accounts themselves are unlimited.
Model both against your own team size and monthly prospect count. Any other comparison is comparing a seat to a person.

Mailshake's list is a sales team's list: dialer, LinkedIn tasks, unified inbox, lead temperature, phone scripts. Woodpecker's is a sending operation's list: adaptive sending, condition-based campaigns, catch-all verification, an agency panel, unlimited accounts.
The clearest signal is what each treats as an add-on. Woodpecker sells LinkedIn automation, API access and the agency panel separately, which tells you the core product is email sending. Mailshake bundles the dialer into a tier, which tells you the core product is a seller's day.
Integration Ecosystem

Mailshake connects with: Salesforce, Pipedrive, HubSpot, Zapier.
Woodpecker connects with: HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zapier, Make, n8n, Google Sheets, Calendly, Slack.
Both tools integrate with: Salesforce, Pipedrive, HubSpot, Zapier.
Woodpecker's list is workflow-heavy: Make, n8n, Google Sheets, Calendly, Pipedrive. Mailshake's is narrower and leans on Zapier for the long tail.
If your outbound is glued together with automations, Woodpecker's native connectors remove hops. If your CRM is the centre of gravity and everything else is incidental, both are adequate and the decision belongs elsewhere.
Who Should Pick Which
Pick Woodpecker if your team is larger than your sending footprint. Unlimited team members is the feature that decides it. Five people sharing one campaign costs one price, and on a per-seat platform it costs five.
Pick Mailshake if the reps also call. The dialer on Sales Engagement, with unlimited North American minutes, replaces a separate tool and a separate invoice. Woodpecker has no answer here.
Pick Woodpecker if you run several clients. The agency panel billed at $27 a month per active client is a purpose-built model. Mailshake's Agency plan is quoted rather than published, so comparing it requires a sales conversation.
Pick Mailshake if the list is large and the sequences are short. Unlimited sends from $49 means volume does not move the bill, which is the opposite of Woodpecker's model and the right shape for a wide single-touch campaign.
Where each one sits in a cold outbound stack
Both sit in the sender slot. Neither sources or verifies.
Our own doctrine matters here more than usual, because it changes the arithmetic rather than the preference. We send one message per campaign, with no bumps and no thread replies. Woodpecker's per-prospect model gives its best value to teams running long sequences, since the second through sixteenth touch are free. A single-message campaign collects none of that, so it pays the full rate for one touch and the crossover moves toward per-seat pricing.
The multichannel half of Mailshake is subject to the same caveat from the other direction. We run LinkedIn as its own motion rather than as a step inside an email sequence, so a bundled LinkedIn task list is worth less to us than the dialer is.
Switching between them
Both export prospects and campaigns to CSV, and neither carries sending reputation across.
The migration order that works: suppression lists first, then domain authentication with SPF and DKIM confirmed on the new platform, then warmup, then volume ramped over two to three weeks. Rebuild copy in the new editor rather than pasting it, because merge-tag syntax differs and an unresolved tag reaching a prospect is worse than a slower migration.
One direction-specific note. Moving Mailshake to Woodpecker usually means adding sending addresses, because the reason for moving is often the seat-attached mailbox ceiling. Provision and warm those before cancelling anything.

Getting Started Checklist

- Write down two numbers: people who need access, and prospects contacted per month. They price the two tools respectively.
- Count sending addresses separately, and price them as seats on Mailshake and as $6 add-ons on Woodpecker.
- Decide whether calling belongs in the same tool.
- If you run client work, compare Woodpecker's published per-client price against a quote for Mailshake's Agency plan before assuming.
- Send one real segment through each and read the replies.
- Confirm suppression list export from whichever you choose.
Final Thoughts
This is a team-shape decision. A large team working a small precise list should be on Woodpecker, where people are free. A small team working a large list should be on Mailshake, where sends are free above $49.
The list itself outranks both. A verified, well-targeted segment sent from a warmed domain beats a better platform every time.

Frequently asked questions.
Frequently asked questions- Which is cheaper for a five-person team?
- Woodpecker, if the list is small. Five Mailshake seats at the $49 Email Outreach rate is $245 a month, and Woodpecker includes unlimited team members so the five people cost nothing. What you pay Woodpecker instead is $7.00 per 100 contacted prospects, so 1,500 prospects is around $105 before its volume discount.
- Does Woodpecker charge per email account?
- Connected email accounts are unlimited on Woodpecker, so bringing your own mailboxes costs nothing. Its pricing page does sell managed ones: Google or Microsoft addresses at $6 a month each, extra warm-ups at $5 a month per account, and dedicated Infraforge servers at $59 a month. Those are options rather than requirements.
- Which one has a phone dialer?
- Mailshake, on its Sales Engagement tier at $99 a month, which includes unlimited dialer minutes to North American numbers along with phone scripts and lead temperature. Woodpecker has no calling product and sells LinkedIn automation as a separate add-on instead. If the reps call as well as email, that settles it.
- Which suits an agency better?
- Woodpecker prices agency work directly, with an agency panel billed at $27 a month per active client on top of unlimited team members and unlimited email accounts. Mailshake has an Agency plan with unlimited email addresses, but its price is quoted rather than published, so comparing the two needs a sales conversation first.
