    The short answer

Apollo.io publishes everything: $49 a seat a month billed annually with 30,000 credits per seat granted upfront, rising to $119 and 72,000. Cognism publishes no price, sells Standard and Pro packages with 5 seats included, and states that a credit reveals a contact permanently.

    Key takeaways

    • Cognism page states that one credit reveals one contact permanently, with no charge for viewing it again and a second credit only when they change jobs.
    • Apollo.io grants credits per seat per year and upfront, so the planning risk is spending the year early rather than running dry monthly.
    • Cognism sells CRM Enrichment and Data-as-a-Service as separate products, so a prospecting quote is not necessarily the whole bill.
    • Apollo.io includes sequencing and deliverability tooling in the same subscription; Cognism includes no sending layer at all.

Apollo.io vs Cognism: Data Enrichment Tool Comparison

Apollo.io grants 30,000 credits per seat for a year and publishes the price on its own page. Cognism grants credits that never expire against a contact you have already revealed, and publishes no price at all on the page fetched for this comparison. Those are two genuinely different products wearing the same word.

Working out which suits you starts with what a credit buys, not with what a plan costs.

    The Short Answer

Apollo.io publishes everything: Basic $49 a seat a month billed annually with 30,000 credits per seat granted upfront for the year, Professional $79 with 48,000, Organization $119 with 72,000. The Cognism page fetched here publishes nothing, sells Standard and Pro packages with 5 seats included, and states that one credit buys a contact permanently.

Apollo.io is the volume and breadth answer with a price you can plan against. Cognism is the accuracy and compliance answer, and its cost is a conversation.

    What Each Tool Actually Is

Apollo.io is an all-in-one go-to-market platform: a large contact database with sequencing, dialling and deliverability tooling on one per-seat subscription.

Cognism is a compliance-first B2B data platform sold by quote, with phone-verified Diamond Data, Bombora intent and 5 seats included in each package.

Cognism's credit rule is the fact most comparisons miss. Its page states plainly that "1 credit = 1 revealed contact", that there is "No charge for viewing previously revealed contacts", and that a credit is only spent again if that contact changes jobs. A team working the same account list repeatedly is therefore accumulating a usable library rather than renting monthly access to one.

Apollo's credits behave the opposite way and are generous enough that it rarely matters: 30,000 per seat per year on Basic, granted upfront, spent on lookups and exports. The risk there is spending the year's allowance in a fortnight rather than running dry each month, which is a different planning problem.

Organization$119/mo72,000 credits per seat per year, granted upfrontPer seat, 3 seat minimum, billed annually

Apollo.io's pricing page prices per seat and grants credits per seat per year rather than per month. Basic at $49 a seat a month carries 30,000 credits for the year, granted upfront; Professional at $79 carries 48,000; Organization at $119 carries 72,000 and needs three seats minimum. The page shows those rates under its annual toggle and advertises 24 percent off for choosing it.

Granting the year's credits upfront is the detail that changes planning. A team that burns 20,000 credits in its first fortnight has spent two thirds of the year's Basic allowance and pays for more, which is a different failure mode from running out on the 28th of a monthly plan.

The Cognism pricing page fetched for this comparison publishes no prices, and its own FAQ says why: "Cognism pricing is tailored based on the product you need, your team setup and how you plan to use the platform." The same page states that "Sales Prospecting is offered in Standard and Pro packages", each with 5 seats included, and closes on an invitation to "Get a personalised quote for your team".

What the page does publish is the credit rule, and it is unusual enough to matter. "1 credit = 1 revealed contact", there is "No charge for viewing previously revealed contacts", and a credit is only spent again if that contact changes jobs. So a Cognism credit is closer to a permanent record than to a monthly lookup, which makes a straight credits-per-dollar comparison against a metered tool misleading in Cognism's favour and hard to hold against it.

What can and cannot be priced here

Only one side of this comparison has published numbers, so the illustration below prices Apollo.io and lists the questions that make a Cognism quote comparable. It is invented and no part of it comes from a customer.

Five reps on Apollo.io Basic at $49 a seat a month, billed annually, is $245 a month and 150,000 credits for the year granted upfront. That is 2,500 credits per rep per month if spread evenly, which for email-led prospecting is a large allowance and for export-heavy operations work is less generous than it sounds.

The Cognism equivalent starts from its own structure: Standard or Pro, 5 seats included, with CRM Enrichment and Data-as-a-Service priced separately. Four questions make the quote comparable. How many credits for the term, what a seat costs beyond the included five, whether CRM Enrichment is inside the number, and how a re-reveal is counted when a contact changes job.

The credit-permanence rule is what makes those questions worth asking. On a five-year account list that barely changes, Cognism's model gets cheaper every year and Apollo's does not.

    Who Should Pick Which

Pick Apollo.io if you want one bill, a published price and a sending layer included, and if your prospecting is high-volume rather than high-precision. Its anonymous visitor identification and real-time form enrichment also reach into inbound, which Cognism does not attempt on the same plan.

Pick Cognism if you sell into Europe, if GDPR comes up in procurement, or if mobile connect rate is a metric your team is measured on. Its intent feed comes from Bombora and administrators can select up to 12 intent topics from a library of over 11,000 options, which is a genuine targeting lever rather than a checkbox.

A "yes" leans Apollo.io, a "no" leans Cognism
    • Yes: You want a published price before committing
    • No: Procurement will ask about GDPR compliance
    • Yes: You need a sequencer in the same subscription
    • No: Mobile connect rate is a tracked metric
    • No: Your team returns to the same accounts year after year
    • Yes: Volume matters more than verification
Six questions that separate a published platform from a quoted data contract.

Apollo's list spans a whole platform, including pipeline boards and CRM data cleansing that a pure data vendor would not sell. Integration Ecosystem

    Section illustration: Integration Ecosystem

Apollo.io connects with: Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach, SalesLoft, Marketo, SendGrid, LinkedIn.

Cognism connects with: Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach, SalesLoft, Pipedrive, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Bullhorn, Zapier.

Both reach Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach and SalesLoft. Apollo adds Marketo, SendGrid and LinkedIn, which is a marketing and sending footprint. Cognism adds Pipedrive, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Bullhorn and Zapier, which is enterprise and staffing. Neither list is short of what a mainstream stack needs.

Where Each One Sits In A Cold Outbound Stack

Apollo.io is the all-in-one end: a database plus a sending and sequencing layer in the same subscription. Cognism is the compliance-first enterprise data layer, bought on an annual contract and fed into a sending tool you already own.

Apollo.io can be the entire stack, data and sending together. Cognism is deliberately one layer and expects a sequencer downstream, which is why teams often pair it with whatever they already send from.

One house note that changes how to value the bundle. We send one message per campaign, never bump and never reply into a thread, and we qualify meetings against criteria agreed in writing before launch. On that motion a bundled sequencer is largely unused machinery, and accuracy per contact is worth more than volume, which pulls the decision toward Cognism more than a feature count suggests.

    Switching Between Them

Apollo.io to Cognism means unbundling the sending layer. Stand a sequencer up and prove it sends before the Apollo contract ends, and remember Apollo grants credits upfront for the year, so an early exit forfeits allowance you have paid for.

Cognism to Apollo.io is mostly a coverage and compliance question rather than a technical one. Test 100 European mobile numbers on Apollo before committing, because that is where Cognism's Diamond Data is hardest to replace.

    Getting Started

    Section illustration: Getting Started Checklist

    1. Decide whether you are also replacing a sequencer, since that alone swings the comparison.
    2. Price Apollo.io per seat for the whole team on the annual column.
    3. Ask Cognism the four quote questions above in writing.
    4. Test 100 mobile numbers from each on the segment you actually sell into.
    5. Count your seats against Cognism's included five before assuming the package fits.

    Final Thoughts

Apollo.io is the better answer for a team that wants breadth, a published price and sending in the same place. Cognism is the better answer when data quality and compliance are what the business is judged on.

    Questions

    Frequently asked questions.

    Frequently asked questions
Why does Cognism not publish prices?
It says so on the page. Its pricing FAQ states that Cognism pricing is tailored based on the product you need, your team setup and how you plan to use the platform, with Sales Prospecting offered in Standard and Pro packages. Every route on the page ends at a personalised quote rather than a checkout.
What makes a Cognism credit different?
It does not expire against a contact you have already revealed. The page states that viewing a previously revealed contact is free and that a credit is only used again if that contact changes jobs. On a stable account list that model gets cheaper every year, which an annual credit grant does not.
Which is better for European data?
Cognism is the usual answer, and it is what the product is built around: phone-verified Diamond Data, on-demand mobile verification, and GDPR and CCPA compliant sourcing. Test 100 European mobile numbers on both before deciding, because coverage varies enough by market that the general claim is not enough.
Does Apollo bundled sequencer change the maths?
Only if you will use it. A campaign that sends one message with no bumps and no thread replies uses very little of a sequencer, so price Apollo.io on its data and treat the sending as a bonus. Teams replacing an existing sequencer should value the bundle much more highly.
