That is a sensible engineering decision and it tells you the injection is otherwise universal.
If your organisation runs a Chrome extension allowlist, these are the lines that decide the answer. It is a different product for a different job, and conflating the two is the most common error in write-ups of this tool. If you are evaluating the prospecting extension, the listing you want is the one titled simply ZoomInfo.
On naming: you will find this extension discussed under an older product name across a lot of the internet. That name does not appear on the current Chrome Web Store listing at all. It survives in the URL path of ZoomInfo's own feature page and in an image filename on it, and nowhere in the brand-cased visible copy of either page. Treat any article confidently using the old name as one written from memory rather than from the current listing, and discount its other details accordingly.
What a click costs, and why nobody can tell you exactly

Here is where an honest page has to stop short of what you wanted.
ZoomInfo's API documentation states the credit model for programmatic access plainly: each record returned by the contact enrich endpoint charges a credit from your account, unless that record is already under management, and no credit is charged when the API returns "No match" or an error code. That is a clear, quotable, first-party rule, and it is the right mental model for how the platform meters value: you pay per record you take, not per query you run.
What is not published is the rate card. The API reference links repeatedly to a "Credit Usage and Limits" guide, and that page returns a 404 on both the standard and the enterprise documentation paths. So the mechanism is documented and the price of the mechanism is not.
The consequence for extension users is direct. A rep clicking through profiles is spending a shared, metered budget, at a rate set in your contract rather than on a public page. Two practical moves follow from that. Find your actual credit allocation and per-action consumption in your own agreement rather than online, since no number you find online is your number. And decide before rollout who is allowed to click, because a browser extension distributes spending authority to every person who installs it, silently, at the exact moment a rep is most curious.

Before you roll it out across a team

Four questions, none of them about features, all of them answerable before anyone installs.
Who owns the credit budget. Name a person. An extension turns every rep into a spender, and a metered budget with no named owner runs out in the last week of the quarter.
What your security review says about all-URLs access. Get the manifest permissions above in front of them early. This is the step that most often turns a two-day rollout into a six-week one, and it is entirely predictable.
Whether the CRM write path is configured before the first click. The export function is the part that creates real value and the part that creates real mess. Field mapping, duplicate handling, and ownership rules should exist before a rep pushes their first record.
Whether you actually need per-record lookup. If your reps are researching named accounts, the answer is probably yes. If they are building lists, the answer is that you are paying a premium for a slower version of something an integration does better.
The tool underneath all of this is fine. The extension does what its own manifest says it does, its function is clearly described on the vendor's own pages, and the reason it has a six-figure install base is that on-page lookup genuinely saves time. What gets teams into trouble is treating a per-record metered instrument as an unlimited one, which is a contract question rather than a software question.
